Please note that post-tune support applies to the configuration and setup completed during your tuning session. Any new modifications, mechanical issues, or changes made after the tune may require additional inspection or re-tuning.

Our goal is to ensure your motorcycle runs safely, smoothly, and at peak performance after every session.

To ensure accurate results, engine safety, and the best possible performance, your motorcycle must be mechanically sound before ECU tuning. The following items can directly affect tuning quality and must be addressed prior to your session.

Required Before Tuning

  • Fresh engine oil at the correct level

  • Coolant filled, properly bled, and free of leaks

  • Fully charged, healthy battery

  • Proper chain tension and lubrication

  • No active warning lights or fault codes

  • No known mechanical issues (misfires, overheating, abnormal noises, fuel or coolant leaks, slipping clutch)

Valve Clearance Maintenance

If your motorcycle is due or overdue for a manufacturer-recommended valve clearance inspection or adjustment, this must be completed before tuning. Incorrect valve clearances can negatively affect idle quality, throttle response, air/fuel readings, and overall tuning accuracy.

Additional Factors That Can Affect Tuning

The following items can impact tuning results if not addressed:

  • Worn, fouled, or incorrect spark plugs

  • Dirty or improperly oiled air filters

  • Vacuum leaks or cracked intake boots

  • Exhaust leaks, especially near O₂ sensors

  • Old or contaminated fuel

  • Fuel system issues (pump, injectors, pressure)

  • Throttle calibration issues, especially on ride-by-wire motorcycles

  • Cooling system problems (fans, thermostat, air pockets)

  • Clutch slippage under load

  • Failing or incorrect engine sensors (TPS, MAP, IAT, O₂, etc.)

Important – Non-Refund Policy Related to Maintenance

If Gap City Tuning arrives and the motorcycle does not meet the above maintenance requirements, the tuning session may be postponed, limited, or declined to protect the engine and ensure safe operation.

In these cases, expenses related to time, travel, setup, or partial services already performed are non-refundable.

By purchasing a tuning service, the customer acknowledges and agrees that it is their responsibility to ensure the motorcycle is tune-ready and that failure to do so may result in non-refundable charges.

Once your service is purchased, we will contact you to review your setup and help avoid any issues on tune day.

If you have questions about pre-tune requirements, call or text 480-376-7377.

In these cases, any time spent, travel, setup, or partial services performed are non-refundable.
By purchasing a service, the customer acknowledges and agrees that certain fees may not be refunded if the motorcycle is not tune-ready.
